Felicity & Hamish MacLean with daughters Pippa, Bonnie & Rose.
Our story
Hamish is the third generation of MacLeans to work the land at Kairakau Beach, which is now home to The Highland Avo Farm. Hamish has a background in land surveying and an interest in engineering, which comes in handy when water issues arise! Felicity grew up in Gisborne on a farm where her parents planted citrus orchards and a nursery. She spent her younger years learning how to tend, nurture and grow healthy fruiting trees.
The planting of the orchards began in 2021 with 200 trees in the top orchard and a further 200 planted the following year. The labour force consisted of parents, Mike and Ros Dodgshun and Duncan and Barbara MacLean, as well as local friends from the area lending a hand – it really has been a family effort!
With Hamish’s farming background and Felicity’s knowledge of horticulture, they’ve successfully grown over 400 Hass avocado trees of their own, and are ready to share their fresh, locally grown produce with you.
Picked with care
Fresh Hass avocados from our Central Hawke’s Bay farm orchard, are ready to harvest and be delivered to you to fill your fruit bowl. Each avo has been personally picked, washed and packaged with care.
At the Highland Avo Farm we believe that fresh, locally grown produce always tastes better.
